What this site is
Mortgagor.ca is an independent educational resource for Canadians who are buying a home, renewing or refinancing a mortgage, or borrowing against home equity. We publish free calculators and sourced guides covering mortgage qualification, rates, payments, closing costs, renewal, refinancing, home equity, and first-time buyer programs.
How we research our guides
Every guide is written for the Canadian market and grounded in primary sources. We cite the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC), Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), the Bank of Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), and canada.ca. Where a figure changes often — a rate, a premium, or a threshold — we state it with its as-of date and a clear “confirm the current figure” note rather than presenting it as fixed fact.
